This was my premiere at this year's VidUKon, and I was something of a neurotic mess about making and submitting it, but Becka and GBB were very persistent in ensuring I didn't back down, and much to my surprise, I didn't burst into flame when it aired...

I came here through such_heights's link, and OHHHH AM I SO GLAD I DID. This vid is PERFECTION. It's rough and dirty and sparkly and crisp and beautiful and everything I love about the sexy dance parts of Magic Mike while also somehow retaining the exact theme of the rest of the movie???? WOW, I think that was actually hotter than the movie, I remember being disappointed in how... weirdly not played for eroticism it was? This vid did not have that problem. Niiiice.

THEY ARE VERY HARDWORKING MEN WORKING HARD FOR THEIR MONEY. IT'S VERY MANLY. (And also really well edited in terms of motion. Which is important when making complex, classy points about gender roles!)

(No but really this still amuses me and holds my attention the whole way through every time I see it and I have, by now, seen it a lot!)

Seconding the comment above that this still somehow manages to capture the theme of the movie - but it's so much faster, and also INCREDIBLY hot. And I love the use of the spinning and Channing's super-fluid dancing for the guitar solo in particular. Great job!

Luckily, there were no flames visible - but there was a lot of giggling coming from the direction of the front row ;) I'm delighted you liked it! It's a bit of a change of pace for me, but maybe it's a sign that I should try and vid teh salient points of the sequel at some point...

Thank you! I think such_heights has been cheerleading this vid for me - I was both blown away and incredibly nervous about it being the closing vid for the Premieres show. I don't know how many drafts I made my lovely betas watch, but both were very reassuring that the vid was working. Sadly, I couldn't fit in some of the dances that I wanted because there just weren't enough viddable clips, but I'm delighted that it works for you :D And Magic Mike XXL comes out soon...

There was a certain amount of giggling from the front row! I'm amazed at how many positive comments there've been on LJ/DW - I don't think I've ever made a vid as popular as this one before. And you and Becka are both heavily to blame ;)

I think I was definitely trying to have more fun with the movie than the movie was comfortable having with itself, although I had a couple of great betas who were cheerleading enthusiastically to make me go through with finishing it. The movie could've done some reaslly interesting things, particularly with gender roles, but instead I think it took itself too seriously in ways that just... weren't all that interesting. Although I may be biased. I'm delighted you enjoyed it!

Does this mean I have to vid Magic Mike XXL now, and try and make classy points about gender roles? ;) I wish I'd realised before I finished making it how close I was to having all of the village people roles in this vid...

Do you think I had the hardworking men working hard enough? I'm still amazed how well the song works with the movie...

Thank you! :D I did try to put more of Channing's dancing in the vid, but the majority of his sequences didn't have enough clips in of the right length. I can honestly say I never thought I'd ever spend so much time watching men dance erotically in slow motion, but it was in a good cause. It certainly got a fair number of giggles at the convention, and I've never had a vid get so many positive comments!
