I'm registered on Livejournal as brokenmnemonic, and that'll probably stay my main journal, particularly for posting vids, fic or any other fanworks I actually manage to get done. Mostly I'm here because goodbyebird insists that everyone's lovely and I should sign up.

I'm on twitter as @BrokenMnemonic where I normally either mutter about vidding, get excited about helping to run VidUKon or natter about films/tv/comic/cats. Especially cats.

Based on how infrequently I post on Livejournal and how long it takes me to do almost everything, I should be up and running on dreamwidth in roughly forever plus one day. It'd help if I wasn't very lazy. I always have chocolate available though, and I usually have something to drink somewhere, and I'm happy to share.

Aha! HTML tags look to be in the same format. That's useful. Although I'm guessing lj-user doesn't do the same thing here. Hmm.

Do you think I could port my css layout across from LJ? I'm kind of used to the look, having used it for a few years now. Although I need to dig out my Before Sunrise moodtheme.

The "Reading" tab is like the "Friends" tab, right? I can click on it, and be amused and entertained by the wise and witty posts of people I admire greatly? And see cat pics?

Icons. Where on earth did I store all my icons. I think the answer may be on one of the backup hard disks after my pc died. It feels weird to be iconless.

Yup, you can use the same format for usernames and cut tags :) But there's the dw alternatives(all in brackets): user name="goodbyebird" OR user name="goodbyebird" site="twitter.com"

It's very neat, as you can link directly to people's names on a lot of other platforms, and the link works, and they even get the proper userhead(in most layouts).

And as for icons, you can always transfer your icons directly from your lj userpics. Or scour other people for icons :D I'm at spankulert now(request to join, as it's locked), but that's new so all my older posts are at forsquares. smallbatchicons, thisisagraphicscomm, and gosh are really neat as well!

My LJ layout is a version of flexible squares hacked around with css code I got from someone else... I can live with the default appearance until I'm more enthused, though. I can happily consider it stealth mode...

I only get 15 icons, and it strikes me that I really need to go with a few new options to go with some of my old favourites. I have no Elementary icon, for example. Not my favourite show, but I definitely could do with a Joan Watson icon. And I need to try and make a Mass Effect icon. It could be a good time for me to dust off PhotoShop, I haven't iconned anything in years...

Everybody could do with a Joan Watson icon ;) And yes, photoshop is a very fun - if not terribly addicting - thing to poke around in.

Embarrassed to say I haven't iconned Mass Effect before either. That really should be rectified! If you do get on with photoshop, maybe we could have a call, see if anybody wants an icon battle? (each person submits a certain amount of caps, everybody icons all the caps=much pretty & much fun)

I used to know an amazing graphic artist who made insanely good icons, and was willing to chat with me about it - that made it rather good fun :) I'm terribly lazy though, so I stopped playing around much when I'd filled up my icon slots.

One day when I have the time and technology, I'd like to try vidding Mass Effect, using one of my characters - I think I'm some way away from being able to do it, but I think I'd like to make an action vid focussing on femShep and her backup team. There need to be more vids about femShep saving the universe, yes?

Having someone to talk with about icons makes it a lot more fun, yes! Any shared fannish delight really; that's why we're all here.

That sounds like quite the undertaking! And yes, definitely need to be more vids. When becka finishes up her ME footage, we're all totes in for a Mass Effect VidUKon premieres show tho! It is a thing that must exist :D

That sounds like a vidshow about loving stuff that takes place IN SPACE.

But there should definitely be a game vidshow in the next couple of years. More and more people are getting interested in it.
